The Chamber's Quarterly Economic Survey (QES) is seen as a barometer of business confidence in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Sent out in March, June, September and November each year, the information on business confidence, export and import sales and capacity levels is analysed across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire; by county; by region, and then nationally by British Chambers of Commerce (BCC). It is one of the most respected business surveys by independent economists, the government and the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee.
Results are published through the local media at the end of the research month, and nationally through the BCC website at www.chamberonline.co.uk/.
We also use the Quarterly Economic Survey to ascertain your view on pressing issues such as red tape, skills gaps, transport priorities and proposed new taxation mechanisms such as Workplace parking levies, supplementary business rates and congestion charging. It is also an opportunity for you to shape our lobbying, which helps define the work of the Members' Councils and Forums.
The latest survey sought feedback about skills, education and business engagement priorities.
In addition, the survey invited business to respond to the potential use of business rates to fund new sporting venues, as well as assisting DNCC in determining the effect of the recent postal strike on its membership.
The analysis contained within the full Report is available here, together with a summarised version of the findings.
Your participation has never been more valuable; many thanks indeed to all those that responded.
