Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce is an organisation providing support and advice to businesses across the two counties. Our organisation has main offices in Chesterfield, Derby and Nottingham with the training division having 5 other sites across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. We deliver training for the SFA, YPLA and schools for clients aged 14 years through to 65.
Qualified Dental Nursing Assessor/Tutor
Salary between £16500 - £20500
This post is permanent and will be based from our Chesterfield Office serving Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire dental practices that are keen to develop their staff.
The key areas of responsibility are engaging with dental practices that are accessing work based learning apprenticeship programmes, for both youth and adults throughout Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Ideally applicants will possess:-
- assessor qualifications D32/D33 or A1
- good organisational and time management skills
- excellent influencing and negotiating skills
- excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- enthusiastic qualities that motivate and engage companies and people into learning
- good ICT Skills
- understanding of Work Based learning and the associated funding streams
- clean driving licence and a car are essential
- registration with General Dental Council

Part 1: JOB PROFILE
JOB TITLE: Oral Health Care Assessor/Tutor
1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To provide quality assessment, teaching, learning and support to learners on a range of specific disciplines
2. POSITION IN ORGANISATION
- Reports to Line Manager
- Works closely with IT tutors/ assessors/Monitoring Officers/ Recruitment Staff/Internal and Principal Verifier
3. SCOPE OF JOB
- Assist in the key processes in progressing learners on the programme (induction, initial assessment, programme planning, assessment, review, progressing and tracking)
- To work within the quality framework
- Support and guide learners
4. DIMENSIONS & LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
- Organise and develop resources
- Manage own time
- Complete relevant administration documentation
- Authority to maintain discipline within teaching environment
5. QUALIFICATIONS
- D32/33 or ‘A1'
- A teaching qualification (7307) or equivalent
- CIEH Risk Assessment qualification desirable
- Basic counselling certificate desirable
- CRB checked
6. EXPERIENCE
- 2-3 three years as an assessor
- Relevant teaching role
- Understand the assessment and quality processes
- Good level of communication and administration skills
Part 2: DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Liaise with company personnel, monitoring officers, recruitment staff to develop an assessment plan for individual learners
- Working to maintain quality systems ensuring current and future standards are implemented immediately
- Instruct, guide and support mixed ability/age groups/individuals on a one-to-one basis on a roll-on-roll off system
- Be familiar with content of generic to facilitate, covering for other members of the team
- Manage the learning of individuals attending off-the-job training
- Submit accurate and timely information to the Internal Verifier regarding registration, accreditation, progression and certification of individuals to enable formative and summative verification
- Consult with the learner and agree a format for assessment and review of evidence at least on a 4 weekly basis
- Plan and carry out individual assessment on awarding body criteria with attention to Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities
- Assist in the development, support, welfare and discipline of individuals
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, courses and other appropriate events to ensure continuous improvement of programmes and self-development
- Ensure effectiveness of inter-department co-operation by promoting other activities and Chamber services
- Meet targets and deadlines identified in the Business Plan
- Understand and implement the OFSTED and CIF to maintain a quality provision
- Contribute to the annual Self-Assessment Report and Development Plan
- Constantly plan, update and write appropriate course material to meet individual needs, awarding body standards and quality framework
- Prepare, plan, manage and organise all resources in the learning environment prior to the start and closing of session maintaining security
- Support learners in a tutor role in the open learning environment
- Invigilate examinations
- Keep appropriate daily records of learner attendance, learning and progression
- Ensure scheme of work, lesson plans are maintained and evaluation of teaching and learning is updated at each activity.
