Students benefit from professional, energy-saving kitchen

A newly refurbished ‘eco-friendly’ training kitchen was officially opened at New College Nottingham (ncn) Clarendon on Thursday 4 February.

Guests included Nottingham Michelin-star chef Sat Bains and industry partners.

The ‘Savoy Education Trust Skills Suite’ now provides ncn Hospitality and Catering learners access to ergonomically designed, energy-saving equipment. The refit has been supported by a grant from the Savoy Educational Trust (SET), an independent charitable trust whose main aim is to advance and develop education, training and qualifications within the hospitality industry.

Administrator for SET, Margaret Georgiou, said: “We are delighted to have supported this impressive facility, which offers individual multipurpose workstations and presents the students with the opportunity to work in an energy-efficient, leading industry standard kitchen."

The new design provides a durable teaching environment that stimulates learning for both students and lecturers. It is equipped with leading components found in professional kitchens, and was designed by HK Kitchen and Bar Solutions.
