Sandicliffe Motor Group has recently partnered with print experts Danwood to introduce a cost cutting managed print solution. As Europe's largest independent print and document management provider, Danwood took on board Sandicliffe's main aim - to reduce spend on consumables - and brought about a much fuller solution.
Sandicliffe was founded in 1948, by the Woodhouse and Barton families. Their abiding commitment to preserve a customer-focused ethos has seen Sandicliffe grow and prosper. For the third year running, they have gained awards for customer care and marketing, as well as for their exceptional environmental programmes.
With an eye on improving efficiency and minimising costs across their expanding chain of regional offices, Sandicliffe Motor Group invited Danwood to conduct a thorough print audit. The results confirmed they were operating a very costly print infrastructure. With a fleet in excess of 150 largely dissimilar machines, their continual spend on consumables was causing concern. Sandicliffe looked at two or three suppliers to help them.
Their job was effectively twofold: to bring costs down - whilst continuing to support Sandicliffe's environmental operation. As the momentum between the parties gathered, Sandicliffe realised that Danwood's flexible approach made them the perfect partners to support their long term growth objectives.
"Danwood was clearly the best prospect. They had the products we needed, but they were looking to bring other solutions on board too. We knew they could help and support us in lots of ways."
Russell Jepson, Group Business Improvement Manager, Sandicliffe Motor Group
Danwood had such clear and easily actionable ideas on how improvements could be achieved. With 15 working locations to support - and 650+ employees, Sandicliffe needed a consistent approach to printing. So Danwood set about rationalising the fleet by installing multifunctional devices and reducing the quantity to just 49.
Reducing the volume of machines didn't mean any commensurate loss in capability - Digital Sending Software (DSS) enables Sandicliffe users to send any scanned material to destinations including email, fax and workflow. While the SafeCom system helps manage the printing process and keep costs down - users' print requests are only actioned when they authorise them with their security card at the point of print. This reduces wastage and allows for more accurate monitoring of print requirements across the organisation.
Sandicliffe was impressed with the way Danwood handled the difficult roll-out so smoothly. There was always support in place for them - and Sandicliffe employees were quickly won round. The added flexibility of being able to print anything from any machine, from anywhere in the network has facilitated time and cost savings and made their working lives much easier.
And there has been a definite impact on Sandicliffe's bottom line: not just in terms of saved paper, reduced toner and printer ink consumption, but in terms of reduced downtime across their print fleet. In addition, an important attitudinal change has happened. Staff are printing less and scanning more - supporting Sandicliffe's environmental credentials. Overall, it's an outcome everyone can be proud of.
Danwood is holding an event at Colwick Hall, Nottingham, on Thursday, 25th March 2010, which will highlight all of the solutions used for this customer, and more. We will be displaying the latest technology which can positively transform the way your office runs.
