Employee Data Theft Workshop - 25 May

Employee Data Theft Workshop

Date:  25th May 2010  Location:  Antenna (Nottingham)

"Eighty-five percent of the respondents to the Cyber-Ark 2009 survey said they know it is illegal to download company data for personal use, but 41 percent said they already have taken sensitive data with them to a new position."

Data theft from businesses has always occurred.  However with the wide spread adoption of technology by business, and the cheap and easily available means of copying, storing and distributing very large amounts of data,  the likelihood of data theft by employees and the financial impact to cash flow and profitability has substantially increased.

Many business owners and leaders feel that theft of company data by employees is "a cost of doing business". The theft of their customer data bases, research & development, financial and cost structures has threatened their businesses with no real means of recompense. This need no longer be the case.

This workshop will examine the legal, commercial and technical risks to your cash flow, & profitability. It will provide insight into the controls that can be put in place to reduce the likelihood of data theft by employees, to highlight when it does occur and ensure that a civil or criminal action can be pursued in the right circumstances. Finally it will define a clear action plan for you to address this risk.

The workshop will draw upon cross industry expertise including Lynn Bleakley, solicitor at Cartwright King, Martin Gibbs MBE associate principle consultant data forensic investigator at Marmalade Box and Bruce Hallas director and principle information security consultant at Marmalade Box Ltd.

Number of places: 16
