Crime is a concern to all businesses and it is becoming increasingly difficult for companies to provide a secure environment at a reasonable cost.

Helping to prevent crime and improving security on a cost effective basis is an essential part of BusinessWatch, ShopWatch and PubWatch.

Working with local companies, members and other stakeholders such as the police and local authorities, the Chamber has an established reputation for working with partners to provide long term viable solutions that realise the benefit of the initial investment and facilitate the management of ongoing costs.

We can work with you to identify and manage the risks, whilst facilitating the provision of individual services. We can also work with you and your neighbours to develop cooperative working arrangements with providers and other businesses that both enhance the situation and provide mutual benefit.

We aim to help businesses, to improve security and reduce crime, by working with them to identify the problems and provide solutions. One of the most effective ways of fighting crime and ultimately reducing the financial impact is by working together in your local area.

BusinessWatch offers the opportunity to participate, to share information, to increase awareness of local issues and a way to keep everyone up to date with what is happening. It provides an easy route by which to report suspicious activity observed by vigilant staff and the potential to provide cost effective solutions on a shared basis.

Similarly ShopWatch and PubWatch are further enhanced by the use of fully maintained radios, supplied on a rental basis, which serve to provide immediate communication to other members, the police and CCTV control.

How do I get involved?

Get in touch with Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber. Ask if a Watch already operates in your area. If it does the co-ordinator will explain how to join BusinessWatch, ShopWatch or PubWatch, (depending on the nature of your business) what services are currently being provided in your area and how to benefit. If not, it may be possible that a nearby scheme can be extended to include your locality or that a new group can be started in your area. Either way we will try to help.

How do I benefit?

Obviously investing in new security measures can be expensive, but by working together we have a better opportunity to share resources, find cost-effective solutions and to secure financial assistance.
