Accreditation for Chamber

Posted on December 6th, 2004

Derbyshire Chamber and Business Link is providing a first-class service to its members and the wider business community and that's official! The Chamber has recently been awarded full accreditation by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) after an in-depth inspection into every aspect of the organisation's activities.Inspectors were so impressed with the services offered by the Chamber that the President of the BCC, Bill Midgley travelled to Derbyshire to personally present the accreditation certificate.Handing over the certificate, Mr Midgley said: This success is down to the hard work and commitment of directors, staff and members of the Chamber who were asked to apply for accreditation just months after the merger of the county's two Chambers.Addressing nearly 100 Derbyshire Businesses at a networking lunch at the New Bath Hotel, Matlock, Mr Midgley went on to explain that the BCC represents more companies than any other organisation and was a credible voice for business - listened to at the highest levelsAt a recent breakfast meeting with the Home Secretary, Jack Straw, he had raised the issue of red tape, increased legislation and the importance of vocational training. We must also get over the message that dirty jobs have as much value, and are often better paid, than white collar occupations, he said.Following the presentation, Anne Tipple, Chief Executive of Derbyshire Chamber and Business, said: We would like to thank Mr Midgely for taking the time to present the certificate in person and I am delighted that we not only succeeded in the accreditation process but were given an exemplary score for our ICT systems!Other areas of the business also scored highly and we are justifiably proud of our achievements over the past 12 months - accreditation is the best first birthday present we could have hoped for.
