Help is at hand for East Midland businesses who fear they may suffer from the fall-out of the MG Rover collapse.Five thousand people are being made redundant at the Longbridge plant with thousands more jobs at risk in companies that supplied the car maker.A package of support has been announced to help both employees and employers who wish to take on former MG Rover workers.Travel subsidies and certain retraining costs will be paid to Rover employees, while employers will get all retraining or upskilling costs met in full, free upskilling of an additional employee to NVQ3 for each ex-Rover employee recruited and a wages subsidy for 12 weeks.Additional resources for job matching and recruitment are also planned the aim being to retain the maximum number of redundant Rover or supplier workers in the manufacturing sector and so address critical skills shortages.The detailed package of help for employees, employers and suppliers can be found at www.rover-response.info
