This excellent course guides people through the process of arriving at an accurate Commodity Code for products with confidence and peace of mind.
The international system for coding products when we trade internationally – the Harmonised System (HS) - is generally regarded as complex and difficult to understand. Yet the penalties for wrongly assigning a code to a product could be severe and relying on a freight forwarder's judgement does not release the producer or shipper from responsibility for accurately describing the goods.
Although the process for arriving at a product code is rather tedious, the principles are straightforward and the information is readily available. This course guides people through the process and its paperwork steadily and methodically so that everyone can arrive at an accurate HS code for their product.
The course is hands -on, with many coding exercises and candidates leave with a solid experience of coding a variety of products, including their own range.
The course is designed for those people in the company who are responsible for assigning a Commodity Code to a new, or modified, product, or for checking the accuracy of export or import documentation before passing details onto the freight forwarder or dealing with HMRC officials.
