The Chamber will focus its lobbying on creating an environment that results in stronfer businesses; more new businesses and more employment. It will seek to break down the barriers that prevent growth and encourage businesses to seize opportunities to explore new markets at home and abroad. DNCC will contribute to four national campaigns covering:-
* Simpler, faster planning
* Making hiring easier
* Support for exporters
* Facilitating business investment
Locally, DNCC will also provide business input from all geographic and business sectors to influence the work of Local Enterprise Partnerships and assist its objectives to create the conditions for future economic prosperity by:-
* Building on advantages in internationally-competitive science, manufacturing, engineering and creative industries, to drive productivity, growth and a low-carbon economy;
* Developing distinctive cultural, leisure, sport and tourism offers to world-class standards;
* Developing skills to meet employers' current and future skills needs;
* Securing investment in regeneration and infrastructure projects to stimulate private sector growth
In 2011, the Chamber will:-
* Identify and lobby for assistance for business sectors and areas adversely affected by cuts in public expenditure and changes in the economy
* Seek to ensure that valued business support and regional services are provided either in a more cost-effective and collaborative way, or promoted commercially
* Continue to lobby on existing campaigns on infrastructure, red tape, procurement and taxation
* Assist Nottingham businesses minimise the impact of the Workplace Parking Levy whilst continuing to oppose its introduction
