This Forum is sponsored by Vinci Facilities:
The Forum was formed following incoming feedback from our Membership Satisfaction Survey in 2008 and enables all those members concerned with this very specific sector of industry to engage with us on lobbying and campaigning issues that will bring about improved operating conditions.
The meetings have a strand of best practice or industry development in order to provide inspiration and time for business networking. Chamber member companies are encouraged to host events so that they can showcase their strategies and highlight any supply chain opportunities.
Our next event is taking place on 21st February 2012, The University of Nottingham.
This Forum is designed to provide HR professionals in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire with access to the latest updates in employment law and recruitment & training services. Managers meet to share experiences, knowledge, ideas and discuss mutual issues and problems - therefore creating a community that can support best practice.
Specialists such as ACAS, QUODOS (Chamber HR Services provider) and the Chartered Institute of Personal Development (CIPD) provide presentations featuring legislation changes, latest case laws and specialist subjects such as developing framework competency and leadership programmes.
Our next event is scheduled for the 26th January 2012, at Talk Staff Ltd, Derbys.
This provides members with an opportunity to inspire business with a range of topics covering innovation, sustainable development, diversification and skill enhancing. Each event also provides delegates with an opportunity for a round the table discussion on current trading conditions, grant opportunities and networking with like-minded organisations.
Our next meeting is scheduled for the 28th February 2012, where we will be at Forbo Flooring Ripley, Derbys..
The forum - a new initiative which aims to build on the success of the Chamber's former Carbon Reduction Forum - aims to bring local businesses together to share practical information on how to reduce their carbon consumption, become more energy efficient and help the environment - whilst saving both time and money.
It will also showcase some of the most prestigious examples of best practice from across the two counties, where businesses can discover how some of the region's leading organisations manage their environmental impacts.
Future events - which are free to Chamber members - will showcase Eon's renewable energy plant in Nottinghamshire, a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport and a look at MBA Polymer's innovative recycling plant in Worksop.
The first meeting takes place on 25 January 2012, between 8am and 9.30am, at Toyota's Burnaston manufacturing plant in Derbyshire, where the company will showcase its dazzling new solar array.
George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "Green business practices will play a huge part in the economic future of the country - not only through helping the UK to meet its environmental targets, but also in terms of innovation and the creation and development of new technology.
"More and more local firms are adopting green business models to both save money and become more socially responsible. This will create opportunities to drive the economic growth of tomorrow by stimulating the local economy and supporting local supply chains.
The Chamber is keen to help its member businesses identify the opportunities that this presents, understand and manage the risks and implement their own environmental solutions through the Sustainability Forum."
