New College Nottingham (ncn) will deliver a special training programme for the Hospitality and Tourism industry in The Gambia in conjunction with the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) after Easter.
A team of Hospitality Management and Tourism staff from the College spent a week in the African country in January to finalise training for Gambian people, which will include four core modules focused on the growth and sustainability of tourism in The Gambia through effective training and management development. The project will initially deliver training in Front Office, Food Service, Kitchen and Accommodation to 65 people, and is supported by the British Council’s Education Partnerships in Africa (EPA) initiative, which aims to deliver employability skills to the African workforce. This is funded by the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
Adrian Pratt, ncn Director of Lifestyle, commented: “The EPA project with The Gambia is entering a very exciting stage, as we are now ready to help deliver high quality, sustainable training for the Gambian workforce."
Future plans for the project include teaching supervisors to deliver their own training, and study visits to the UK.
